Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can coaching help me?
Coaching can help you clarify your goals, identify and overcome obstacles, improve self-awareness, enhance decision-making skills, boost confidence, and create a more fulfilling life. I'll work with you to address your burnout, reconnect with your purpose and navigate a path forward.
  • What can I expect from a coaching session?
During a coaching session, you can expect to engage in meaningful conversations, set actionable goals, explore challenges and opportunities, receive feedback and support, gain clarity on your values and priorities, and develop personalized strategies to achieve your objectives.
  • How long does a typical coaching engagement last?
The duration of a coaching engagement varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from short-term coaching (a few sessions over the span of several weeks) to address specific issues like burnout recovery. Others may opt for longer-term coaching (several months) for comprehensive personal development and transformation. Together we will determine how frequently we'd like to meet in alignment with your goals.
  • Is coaching confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of the coaching relationship. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) requires adherence to strict ethical guidelines that prioritize client confidentiality. Information shared during coaching sessions is kept confidential unless there is a legal or ethical obligation to disclose it. While you may share anything from the session, the coach cannot.
  • What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Great question! Therapy (and counseling) is conducted by licensed mental health practitioners, focusing on past and present mental health issues. The therapist-client relationship is typically hierarchical, with the therapist as the expert. Therapy can help any individual dig deep, examine the past, heal trauma and wounds to live a more adjusted life. (I am a very big proponent of talk therapy!) Coaching on the other hand is not legally regulated, which means it's important to look for coaches who are certified by the International Coaching Federation (I am in progress!) which is the globally acknowledged regulatory body for the coaching profession. It's also important to choose a coach who has completed extensive evidence-based training by reputable institutions (I have!). Coaching tends to be more future-oriented and focused on achieving specific goals. The coach-client relationship is more collaborative and equal, and coaching focuses on helping clients improve performance, overcome obstacles, and achieve personal or professional goals. I love a good metaphor, and this one includes a bicycle... A therapist can help you examine and address a puncture in the tire and help you get on the seat and be there should the journey be hard A consultant can help identify all the cool spots you might want to visit on your trip, and all the mileposts you'll want to hit to be successful A coach can work with you to build the bike, get on the bike, figure out where you want to go, and then rides alongside you to champion you along the way and problem solve any twists and turns along the way
  • What if I end up needing a therapist?
I am a big proponent of therapy and addressing ones mental health. If any of our work ends up touching on or bringing up old wounds best served for therapy, we can greet it with empathy together and acknowledge that it would be best to address with a licensed professional. I have several clinicians I recommend to my clients, should you need any referrals.
  • What if I'm not satisfied with my coaching experience?
If you're not satisfied with your coaching experience, it's essential to communicate openly with me about your concerns. Honest feedback can help address any issues or adjust the coaching approach to better meet your needs.
